"A Mighty Wind"

If you haven't seen this amazing piece of cinematic art, then you need to make it a top priority to enlighten yourself with this fabulous movie. I TIVO'd it the other day and just finished watching the end of it this afternoon. I think it is soooooooo funny...not laugh out loud funny...just funny.

Just wondering - which of you agree that this is a great movie? I'm thinking this may be one of those movies that you either love or hate. What category do you fall into?

Also, for those of you that know Cary Branscum, couldn't you see him playing the part of "Mitch"?

Ok one of the best movies ever, smae guys made best in show and waiting for guffman. Here are some quotes:

"There was abuse in my family... but i was mostly musical in nature."

"My parents would send me to bed with nothing BUT dessert."

(neighing audience) "We're going to have to put a saddle on those folks."

"Thank God for the model trains, you know? If they didn't have the model trains they wouldn't have gotten the idea for the big trains."

"These speakers go to 11." (oops, spinaltap)

"I got weal wed wagon.... I don't think so!"

I had to look this on up on IMDB.

Steinbloom: But it's not painted on the back. I'm looking ot the back right now. Will you look with me for a minute?
Turpin: Why would it be... From the audience it's gonna look perfectly fine. And It looks three dimensional. Just go out there and take a peek.
Steinbloom: Well, is this the real furniture or is this the rehearsal furniture?
Turpin: Well, A it's not called furniture. It's a set.
Steinbloom: Uh-huhh...
Turpin: And it's painted this way. It looks completely three dimensional from the audience, if you just go out that way, Mr. Steinbloom.
Steinbloom: So this is the real furniture, and this is... Is this an actual street lamp?
Turpin: I'm sure it was at one time.
Steinbloom: Can you have an actual three dimensional object that's represents the thing that it actually is, can that be next to something that it's pretending to be? Would that be okay?
Turpin: Yes, it's perfectly fine. You know, I really don't have time to explain Stagecraft 101. This show starts in an hour. Now, every... everything is exactly the way you...
Steinbloom: And what are tho... what's tha... that... Those are lights hanging up there?
Turpin: Yes, those are lights...
Jonathan Steinbloom: Could they fall?
Turpin: ...and that's a ceiling above us!
Steinbloom: But they look shaky.
Turpin: No, they're not shaky, they're perfectly...
Steinbloom: Is that wire? I see a wire. I see a...
[Lawrence smacks him on the head]
Jonathan Steinbloom: Oww!

Great flick. Trey, Maggie and I actually saw this movie in the theatre several weeks before it came out in a sneak preview. The funny thing was none of us realized it was a sneak preview until we started seeing, "Coming this Friday" promos weeks after we'd seen it. Great flick.

Preston and I rented it one night and I fell asleep...I know I would like it though - I love all of those Second City Folks - Canadian humor is great - I do remember the rainbow song it was funny.
