When I Grow Up

I have the greatest job on earth. When people ask me about motherhood, one of the things I tell them is "it's the greatest job I have ever had and it's the HARDEST job I have ever had." You stay-at-home moms (or former stay-at-home moms) know what I'm talking about...but that's another story for another day.

But...if I wasn't a stay-at-home mom, then I'd probably be an accountant for someone (go ahead - yawn - it makes me yawn too!) BUT, what I really want to be when I grow up, if all that other stuff falls through, is a weatherman. I'd probably be fairly happy researching and preparing the information for the T.V. personality, but there is a part of me that would want to stand in front of the camera and impart weather knowledge to the masses. But with this face for radio, maybe that's where I should go in my little dream world. For those of you who endured my pitiful attempts at a skit at this year's Ladies' Retreat, you may remember that I played the part of a weatherman interrupting the T.V. show. Of course, I had to work the whole skit around my getting to do that one specific part.

Last Christmas, I had what I called a "Very Meteorlogical Christmas." I asked for a certain book on weather and got it, and asked for a weather radio and got it, and then got a mini-weather station that I did not ask for. Incidentally, it is 71.7 degrees in my house with 45% humidity. Outside it is 87.6 degrees with 52% humidity. I don't have a barometer reading, but have a section that translates the changing pressure to indicate upcoming weather. As it stands right now, we are headed for some rain in the near future. Good information to know. When I am awakened during the night by bad weather, it's all I can do to keep from getting up and turning on the local T.V. channels to see if there's anything I need to be updated on.

Inclement weather actually scares me sometimes, but I get such an adrenaline rush, I love it. I'm a storm warning junkie. I'm not brave enough to be a storm chaser though.

So I'm just wondering what YOU want to be when you grow up. What's your crazy dream? For instance, we all know that Lindsey could easily fit into the role of a Vegas Showgirl (if Janu can do it, Lindsey's a no-brainer!), but what else does she want to be? Any takers on sharing your secret dreams?

Oh Harold Taft, how we miss you.

When I grow up I want to be a trainer at Sea World....it has been my dream since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Ah, the good ol' days when I could be anything I wanted.

But I wouldn't trade being a Mommy for anything....Old Navy, on the other hand.....

Yeah - you and Brianna Glass. When she was younger she used to say she wanted to be a "Shamu Girl". Now at the old age of 11, I'm not sure if she still wants to do that or not.

I want to be a model when I grow up (of course I'd have to do a little changing to reach that goal). I LOVE doing fun makeup and posing for pictures and after watching America's Next Top Model, photo shoots look totally fun.

I want to be a "Medium" when I grow up. I'd be a crime buster. The only problem would be waking up Frank with bad dreams.

I want to work in the movies when I grow up. I would love to be a movie star (even though I am not at all a talented actress) but I'd even settle for doing stuff behind the scenes...just anything in the film industry.

I want to be a dancer in the parades at Disney World. I don't know which character I would like to be. Hmmm...maybe Jasmine, or just one of her Arabian friends. I would chose Mulan, but she doesn't seem like the dancing type.
